How I Work

Sessions with me

We will often start with a brief check-in and I will give you an opportunity to highlight what may be helpful to explore. Our meetings will feel conversational and personal, and we will move between thinking and feeling fluidly. I want you to feel comfortable and able to express yourself fully. My style is warm and playful (laughter and joy are an important part of the process!) and adaptive to your needs. At times this might mean I leave more space for you to feel something or process, and others I may be more direct and expressive. I welcome any and all of your reactions and responses and strive to create a space where we can both show up as our authentic selves.

Collaborative

I am a supportive and curious collaborator and believe the therapy relationship itself to be a significant source of change. It is a place to honor how your life experiences have shaped you and to practice new ways of connecting and communicating. I am dedicated to creating a space of non-judgement and compassion. I want to tap into what makes you feel alive and connected and help strengthen those elements.

Anti-oppressive

Transformative therapy tends to our complexities, making space for us to create new narratives and challenge the limits of the stories of ourselves and the world that we’ve been told. It pays attention to the realities of how power and oppression impact our bodies, relationships, and internal beliefs. Therapy with me is attuned to how these forces show up in your life. I am inspired by anti-oppressive, anti-colonialist, and queer creatives, thinkers, and radicals who expand possibilities of being. I work well with a diverse array of people from many backgrounds. Much of my work has been with 1st and 2nd generation immigrants, BIPOC individuals, and LGBTQ+ identified people.

Psychodynamically integrative

I use an integrative approach of attachment-based experiential therapy, which highlights emotional, relational, and somatic factors to support you in seeking safety and connection. I work psychodynamically. This means that we will pay close attention to all parts of you, the known and unknown, and explore how your past experiences have shaped your present. I will listen deeply to what you are saying and what you are not saying, ask questions, provide reflection, and celebrate your wholeness. I use multiple frameworks to support this work, including feminist and liberation psychologies, parts-work, somatic interventions, and narrative therapy.

“In the world through which I travel, I am endlessly creating myself.”
